KPCU Clean Coffee Warehouse
KPCU Clean Coffee Warehouse is located in the centre of Nairobi adjacent to the main coffee mill through which most of the Kenya coffee seeds pass. As a valuable site, Kenya Planter’s Cooperative Union wished to develop the site to its full potential. The building is a six storey warehouse capable of holding 20,000 tons of clean coffee yet still with flexibility to accommodate processing machinery. It is served by four good lifts and a comprehensive power supply system and compressed air supply. A bridge connects the warehouse to Kahawa House warehouse where the coffee is auctioned. Triad coordinated this complex contract from inception to completion and successfully completed the project in 1978.
The project came to Triad as a commission by Kulia Investments Ltd to explore the development potential of their 6-acre land near the Norfolk Hotel, a strategic site bounded by Nairobi River. Following study of the site, orientation, market and finance factors, a phased development was designed featuring the first luxury apartments to be built in central Nairobi with their own swimming facilities and integrated offices on the same site. It was completed in 1978.
