The International Centre for Research in Agro-forestry (ICRAF) House at Gigiri, Nairobi
The building was constructed to house the administration and headquarters staff of the Council on a landscaped site adjoining the United Nations Environment Programme site in the outskirts of Nairobi. Great emphasis was laid on the landscaping of the site and its integration with roads and footpaths. The project consists of a 2-storey building containing individual offices for a range of senior, intermediate and secretarial staff. The complex also houses a 200-seat auditorium with simultaneous translation booths. Triad designed and supervised the project which was completed in 1990.
Barclays Plaza
It is a high quality commercial office building with a touch of modern architecture. The project was a joint involvement by Barclays and Unilever pension funds. Triad worked closely with the project manager and property advisors in the development of the initial concept and financial viability of this project. The orientation of the building is so designed as to minimize afternoon sun penetration. The curtain wall detail allows for the unobstructive installation of individual split air – conditioners. Three levels of shops are designed into the ground floor and first floor of the podium, surrounding a top lit atrium. Car parking is provided on interlocking floors within the podium. There are 10 typical floors of 720 sqm. The project was completed in 1994.
