  1. I have lived and worked in Nairobi for more than 40 years. I do not recognize the street. Can you please give some orientations as from where the the photograph was taken and if you can, identify a few building as we know them today.

    Regards,

    James

    • Haha wasnt around in the 70s was born in 1980 but ithink ican tell where this is, it looks like Moi Avenue, taken from the side of Kenya railways round about , the city seems to have been palnned quite well .before the deep rot of the mid 80 and 90s

    • from Development House. Gill House on right. Car&General House on left, Stanbank House at top right of photo

      j. arachnid

  2. Then known as Government Road, (todays Moi Avenue), junction is Harambee Avenue Kenya Cinema is visible further on the left

  3. That’s when a Department called Urban Planning used to work at the Nairobi City Council. From then on we’ve had more of wannabes than city planners. Chocking city bursting in its seams!

  4. Development Hse was not up yet, neither the Hilton Hotel nor the new Agricultural House. Stanbank Hse? Not so sure, Gill House on the right.

Whats wonderful about this snap is that there is no congestion, as is rampant today. Wonder how this place will look in 20 years time.

  5. Kencom Hse not there, is that the Norwich Union Bldg under construction? Corner House not there. Barclays Queensway visible. Photo must have been taken from the old Church House.
