With increased use of the internet as a resource sharing avenue, many vendors of goods and services found a cheaper way of sharing information with people world over. With the advantages of having a website being so obvious, majority of the architectural firms in Kenya don’t own one, with most of them preferring to have domain names which they use for email purposes.

A good number have however made use of this vital resource, and in this attempt, others have goofed and come up with websites that are of unacceptable professional standards.

One such firm is Mutiso Menezes International, a firm associated with one of the oldest and most successful architects, Arch, David Mutiso who was recently featured in Architecture Kenya. The firm’s website is not only a joke, but a mockery of the art of web design and unexpected of an architectural firm, a specialist in design.

The mother of all architects, the Architectural Association of Kenya is a victim too. Their website lacks in design yet they are the ‘basket where all the designers have been put’.

Other well known firms in the list of shame include K & M Archplans and Axis Consulting Architects. After all is said and done, the efforts that these firms have put into having websites needs to be appreciated. Its important to note that its their approach that has a problem.

But accolades would be in order for some firms that have made an attempt to display their design prowess through the outlook of their websites. These include Planning Systems, Edon International and Planning Interiors.

  1. Honestly am a web designer & Mutiso Menezes International’s website is an insult to the art of web design & all web designers.

  2. in all honesty this article is not conclusive and with bias.the axis website does not deserve any credit.check out the triad website.am not hating just saying get all the facts.nonetheless nyc work

    • At the time this article was posted, that website was in a horrid condition. We agree that it has been improved and have dully updated the article. It is important to note that even the AAK redesigned their website after we published the list of shame.

  3. The MMI website was under construction and it has been greatly improved. Do check it out by the end of this month. Your reviews are welcome.

  4. Quality services must be stressed, on all aspects. web designers must up their collective game-no man left behind!

  5. Its not websites that build a nation! Why have fancy websites and you can not feed a nation or have ethics in service procurement or even provide badly needed jobs by the youth. Please lets have responsible journalism. Our priorities are skewed.

  6. If we decided to enhance our DESIGN on our webpage, several people would lose their jobs.. Just minimising competition for them.

  7. Has anyone noticed that the websites that were once shortlisted as the worst are now at the top of the list? I say this list should be updated every so often to expose the other slacking websites.
