The following have been found to be some of the deadliest sins that one can commit in Nairobi. Once you commit them, you will be arrested instantly. We have taken time to air them to you so that you are aware and should you be caught, know what to do.
  1. Buying from hawkers
  2. Sitting on a flower pot in the CBD
  3. Spitting on any footpath or blowing the nose aimlessly other than into a suitable cloth or tissue
  4. Taking or alighting from a matatu from a non-designated area
  5. Crossing the road while you are on the phone
  6. Making any kind of noise on the streets
  7. Playing any game, riding or driving or propelling on a foot path
  8. Graffiti
  9. Owner of a burning building should pay for fire fighting services whether the owner requested for attendance or not
  10. Loitering, importuning or attempting to procure a female/male for prostitution purposes
  11. Having your car with a ‘FOR SALE’ sign and haven’t paid the council is also punishable
  12. Pulling your suitcase on the streets. You should carry it
  13. Parking your car and it hits the curb is also a crime
  14. Standing on the streets while holding on to trees or flowers planted by the NCC

If you are arrested, the following tips may be helpful.

  • The moment you get into the council courts and charged, please plead guilty because only then, will you be allowed to pay a fine of a
  • maximum of Sh2000. If you deny the charges you may be arrested for two days with no fine.
  • Do not argue with the council askaris if you know that you are guilty as charged.  You might just double your fine
  • Bribes are unacceptable after/immediately the lorry has entered the city council’s compound.
  • M-PESA is not allowed to pay for a crime
  • Someone else MUST pay your fine. You cannot pay the fine yourself after you have been charged.

  1. It’s just fascist oppression – an excuse to bully Nairobi’s denizens. And to take their hard earned Shillings.

  2. If only they can concentrate on the small things like garbage collection, the rest will take care of themselves.

  3. The suitcase one makes no sense what soever..its likely too heavy to lift..and the car hitting the curb?? The one for holding a tree is just funny!!

  4. Suitcase!

    4 sale!

    Hurrying in the footpath!

    Kanjo mko c rias!
    Bt u own nbi.watoto wenu pia wataumia.msijali!

  5. Littering happens to be their joy too. No wonder they dnt have the time to collect gabbage or repair burst sewers n water pipes

  6. I thought those MPs’ seconding the horrendous salary & allowance increase for themselves in the country where the majority lives under 1 USD a day was the greatest sin one could ever commit.

  7. I this kanjos are not serious, insteady of cleaning toilet steets and lanes in Nairobi like PANYA LANE and lanes insteady of following ME WITH MY SUITCASE OR ALABLE AT MY CAR (FOR SALE) It has no meaning.MAYOR MAJIWA WAKE UP PLIZ.

  8. Do it mean i can skate in tha CBD anyday of tha week.?? I think am on tha black list for no NCC askari has ever been able to chase and catch me.! Once they caught ma friend and took a sh 20bribe.! Lol. Wen arrested; they wil take any bribe you offer on tha spot.!
I was soo amazed to see a face or two of the askari’s busted by the kenya anti corruption police taking a 50k bribe at pangani tha other day on tha daily nation…!
Tha NCC is soo unfair. Wat they concentrate on aint even makin a great change. How wil pullin ma suitcase be of concern to them.??? God help them.! Nowanda they fight and just dont progress in life.

    “Stolen money is cursed money”

  9. This is crazy. Even suite case??????? lol this guys need to grow up and deal with the real issues the one for spitting and blowing noses there they are spot on some guys are just disgusting.

  10. Do they control on who piss along the streets especially ones deserted even during daytime?

Just walk through Akamba Bus station passage, behind marble arch hotel, that kastreet at the back, you will be surprised by human waste deposits there one you walk along it.

Also at country bus the new flyover leading to the muthurwa market. heaps of human wastes you will encounter.

At Tulaga bus stage to Nyandarua, walk along the deserted street where they stop. Mountains of human wastes!!!

So They got other big things to control before they come to such petty things.!! SHAME ON THEM!!!!

  11. where in Nairobi do those creating this live so a mother carrying a baby cant pull her bag?
This adds to other stupid laws they have like ‘you cannot trim your own fence’I mean How do they xpect to fail to get culprits on these every hour?
