The Mombasa road stretch has become a hot hub for hotels, thanks to the presence of Kenya’s two top airports within the vicinity, the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and the Wilson Airport. As a result, a number of hotels have naturally sprung up, including the Panari Hotel, the current Redcourt Hotel and the more recent ole Sereni. The Airport City proposal by Qatar investors also includes a number of hotels, one of them a five star.
The Red Court hotel is taking advantage of this boom and is undertaking a major expansion plan that will see the establishment stand out as one of the major players in the country’s hospitality industry. The hotel is putting up a new facility on a site right next to its existing complex.
The facility is a 150 room hotel, which will boast of Superior and Deluxe rooms and various suites including a presidential suite. The new look Hotel will also have two heated swimming pools including a kiddies pool, a ball room with a capacity of 400 people, luxurious lawns and gardens, various recreational facilities among many other features.
The project was awarded in 2007 through a design competition won by little known Morphosis Architects based in Nairobi. Construction was slated to be complete by December 2010.

Nice design!
I don’t know… I think there’s way too much going on in terms of design. Maybe I’m just too much of a minimalist. But picture the building in plan view and you’ll get my point- there seems to be a lack of cohesiveness.
Also, I’m not sure if it’s the rendering, but it looks like the building casts way too much shadow in the back area where there is a pool and outdoor area – I feel like they could have optimised the site a little more.
Don’t mean to make this sound like a studio crit, but that’s just my opinion. Thanks Architecture Kenya, for putting up all this info!

This what simply happens when an entity decides to move from good to great. It is a mega sacrifice that is surely bound to pay off big time.I sincerely thank the management for this bold decision and with God’s guidance big things are on the way for the Kenya Red Cross Society. This is a first.
