Acknowledged internationally as one of the “Great Golf Resorts of the World” the Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club was planned into an existing coffee estate, with exceptional virgin forests in the estate valleys.  PLANNING Systems & Services ltd, the architects, were quick to identify the astounding visual assets of this land and the magnificent backdrops of the forest, Ol Donyo Sabuk, the Aberdares, and Mt. Kenya.

Working closely with the Golf course Architect Tom Macauley this exceptional competition standard golf course was sculptured through the forests, and along the valley contours, with all possible care being taken to preserve and enhance the indigenous trees and the natural vegetation.

Today the Windsor Hotel & Golf Resort is the only Golf Resort in Africa listed in the “Great Golf Resorts of the World”, and is one of a select few world wide that has that rating.  It is also the major show piece in the new marketing publication “GOLF KENYA”, produced by the Kenya Tourism Marketing Board.

This resort fits very well into the rolling nature of the topography, and that is largely as a result of PLANNING’s determination to make it do so.  The early land use studies of the existing coffee plantation were put to good use, not only to minimize expensive cut and fill but also to ensure that the resulting buildings are low and below the beautiful indigenous tree skyline.

The water features on this international standard Golf course have proved very popular, both as golf hazards and for their visual assets.  These too, resulted from PLANNING’s early on site land use studies.
